Sade is a 6 y/o beauty, good with other dogs and kids; breeder release; needs to complete vetting.
Lady
Lady is a small, 2-1/2 year old Basset with a big personality.
Lady loves everyone, gets along with other dogs, knows her name and always comes when called. She is housetrained, crate-trained, loves to eat, enjoys barking and is always ready for an adventure. (Except for car rides, she does cry a bit in the beginning.) Lady also enjoys relaxing on the furniture and would gladly spend the night in bed with you.
It took a few days for Lady to become comfortable in her foster home and a few weeks before she started playing with toys, but she has now taken over the house and everyone's heart.
In her former home, Lady was not treated well, but she feels that is all behind her now and she is excited to begin her new life with her forever family.
Pumpkin
Pumpkin is a beautiful, little 6 year old girl who was used for breeding her entire life.
Despite her many rough years, Pumpkin is a friendly, tail wagging girl who loves to be with other dogs (especially Bassets) and has no aggressions. She is house-trained and crate-trained, but, unfortunately, she is still quite timid. Pumpkin is especially scared of noises and will hide in her crate at the slightest sound and doesn't come out until she feels safe again.
Pumpkin is looking for a quiet, slower-paced forever home where she will be loved and given the opportunity to understand that she is forever safe.
SNUFFLEUPAGUS (Snuffy)
Snuffy, for short, is a classic 6 y/o big basset boy, tipping the scales just under 90 lbs. He has huge paws, long ears, deep bark and a big personality! You may notice in the some of the pictures that he has a few patches on his coat where some harmless sebaceous cysts were removed. His coat will be back to normal in no time.
Snuffy is very curious about everything and needs to investigate, sniff, explore and loves to walk. He came to GABR from a loving home because his owners had health problems and could no longer care for him. He is house trained & crate trained, but doesn’t need to be crated (and isn’t crazy about crates).
Snuffy likes all ages of people and loves to be petted. He is playful and thinks he is an elite athlete. It’s very cute to watch him initiate play with his foster brother.
Snuffy could probably stand to lose a few pounds and is not thrilled about the green beans added to his diet, but with regular walks and a healthy diet, he will do fine.
Ladybird (Birdie)
Meet Birdie! Ladybird (Birdie) is a 45 pound, six-year-old basset hound who is ready to share her love and enthusiasm with a new family. Birdie loves making new friends, taking walks around the neighborhood, and driving to the local park. Birdie gets along with cats, and she has done well with children. She is learning to control her enthusiasm which she expresses by jumping up to greet everyone.
Birdie is fully housetrained, leash trained, rides well in the car, and she gets along with the other basset hound in her foster home. She has had great fun with the neighbor's dogs making laps around the yard and would really appreciate having a furry friend in her forever home. A fenced-in yard is required for this gal who enjoys sniffing each blade of grass and chasing the squirrels and rabbits.
Birdie has struggled with poorly managed allergies most of her life. Since coming into the rescue, she has started a special diet and a daily pill that has helped her recover her health and regrow her beautiful black and tan coat. Birdie's allergies will require special care (likely the same special diet and medicine regime she's currently on) to ensure her health and happiness.
Her foster mom says she is a puppy at heart and greets each new day with a basset bark and a wagging tail.
Do not miss the chance to bring this bundle of happiness into your family!
Sophie
4 year old Sophie is ready for her forever home! She is fully house trained, crate trained, and a well-adjusted, happy girl whose tail never stops wagging! She may not need a crate, but her foster mom is crating her when gone, or overnight, simply because she has an aging cat who is not used to Sophie. Sophie does need to work on her recall and cannot be trusted without a fenced in yard.
Wonderful on a leash, she rarely pulls, unless she sees a man, as she will try to pull to get to him, tail wagging constantly. She loves her walks!
She seems to have no fears, and has no aggression with treats, food or toys.
She does have a sensitive stomach and is on Hills ID Prescription diet for that.
Sophie is a well adjusted, affectionate girl who will enrich your life and make you smile! Fill out an application today!
Myrtle
Myrtle is a sweet and playful 1 year old basset. She was a little timid at first, but warmed up quickly and made herself right at home. She loves playing and chasing rabbits with her foster brother and gets along well with other dogs.
Myrtle has a tendency to be a little clumsy when she is excited to get somewhere but she can go up and down stairs with ease. She walks well on a leash and comes when called. We are working on some basic training techniques (sit, stay, down, off).
This awesome girl is crate trained and mostly house trained, very few accidents. She has recently broken out of her shell and has become quite adventurous. She has begun exploring on her own, so a fenced yard is needed. For only being around a year old, she hasn’t chewed or destroyed anything and is content having 1 to 10 stuffed toys with her at any time. Myrtle rides in the car calmly and so far has only barked when in hot pursuit of a bunny or waiting impatiently for treat.
Myrtle is anxious to settle in with her forever family and has lots of love to give.
