Abbey is a 9 year old tricolor who likes children, adults, other dogs and car rides. She has a beautiful
deep howl and bark that she uses sparingly but with enthusiasm at meal time. At 71+ pounds, Abbey
is a good example of the oft seen and heard statement that Bassets are big dogs on short legs.;
If you are looking for a housemate that eats, sleeps, goes out, sleeps, gets a drink, goes out, sleeps,
looks for food, sleeps, wants food, sleeps, goes out, sleeps, then Abbey is the one for you.
She sheds a lot but that’s OK because she loves to be brushed. You might want to invest in a Robot
Roomba if you don’t have one. It will clean your floors every day for you.
Abbey loves to be near you and wants to know where you are. If she wakes and can’t see you, she
will look around (where you are not) and whine or howl so you will let her know where to find you.
Abbey will benefit from walks and enjoys them. Please be sure to put weights in your pockets in order
to prevent her from pulling you off your feet. It will be good to plan for at least an hour. That will give
you time to get to the end of your block while Abbey sniffs every square inch of ground as go you. It
would be good to walk back home on the same side of road, street or sidewalk so the smells will be
familiar. Otherwise you might need to allow more time.
Abbey will be a great companion for you. She is a lovable lady that exemplifies everything Basset.
