Homeless
My name may be a little old fashioned but I have the energy and personality of a
puppy!  I was found in Indiana as a flea bitten stray and found myself in a very large
and overcrowded shelter.  Fortunately GABR was able to take me before I was
euthanized.  At just 2 years old, I was much too young for the rainbow bridge!  I’m now
staying with a foster family in Illinois and I’m loving life!  I think I’m a pretty good
boy…a little head strong and stubborn but I heard my foster dad tell his family at
Christmas that I’m his favorite foster ever!  Yeah for me!!  What’s not to love though.  I’
m wonderfully housetrained, social, good with people and I have the best “arroooo”
this side of the Mississippi.  Well, speaking of “arroooo” – I do tend to bay when
people come to visit or when I’m excited so apartment or urban life wouldn’t be ideal
for me.   I want to be clear on this.  I don’t bark at all.  I bay (loudly) with the best of
them!!

My foster mom and 15 year old foster sister are handling my training.  They tell me I’m
good but very stubborn.  I also get a bit too “big for my britches” so they’ve got me in
this conditioning program (training) that isn’t much fun.  But apparently I’ll get access
to toys and playtime again when I learn not to talk back.  I get in trouble most for
counter surfing.  It’s my absolute favorite thing to do in the world.  There’s never any
food on the counters here, but I still keep trying!

I have three four-legged foster brothers.  One is laid back, one is older and the other
can be crabby.  But I love them all and I LOVE to play with the crabby one.  In fact, to
my foster mom’s surprise, he and I have become best friends!  We play tag about two
hours per day and the couch has become “safe”.  As usual, I get in trouble for
jumping on the couch but hey, Rome wasn’t built in a day, right?  I’ll get all these rules
some day!

I’m great with children, however, due to my head strong attitude, it’s probably in
everyone’s best interest if I stick to older children and adults.  If you have children who
visit periodically, that would be great.  I just don’t think I’d tolerate children telling me
what to do on a regular basis.

So that’s my story.  I have had a rough road but 2012 is looking up!  I am a very happy
boy who will make a family happy so long as you know how to deal with stubborn
bassets!  But hey, it’s part of my
charm!
My name is Jackson and I just turned 3 y/o on January 1st!!  I have a deep
zest for life, people, other dogs, and even...cats!  I have no health problems
and I don't counter surf or have house accidents!  I bark but not excessively.
My foster dad calls me Action Jackson because I am young and energetic!

My talents are diverse as I also like to give a shout-out...or is that
howl-out...to strangers, but that makes me a good watch dog!   I sleep
through the night in a crate and use the doggie door to the huge fenced-in
backyard like a pro!  I also have the unique ability to spoil you as much as
you spoil me.  I like to ride in cars and am a good eater.

My coat is tricolored and I have a gazillion freckles!  However, my ears are
not extra long like a lot of my fellow bassets.  GABR knew about my ears but
took me anyhow.  You see, I was on a long transport headed for a terrible
place when a kind person saw me and called GABR.  Boy, am I glad they did!
At least my ears are wide and well rounded, PLUS they stay out of my food
and water! Give me a chance and you won't regret it!
Meet Clifford, the big red and white basset hound.  Clifford just arrived in
his foster home and is busy getting to know the resident bassets, cats,
and parrots (he gets along with everyone).  Because he was found as a
stray by a kind person, we don't know his birthday. We think he's about 4
y/o.  Clifford is sweet, laid back, house trained and crate trained, but
doesn't need to be crated.  Like most bassets, he loves his walks and his
meals.  We also know that he rides well and quietly in the car.

Stay tuned as we get to know Clifford better.
Clifford
This strikingly handsome guy is Doc.  He is 6 years old and was
surrendered because his owner had to enter a nursing home.  He is
technically a tricolor but has only a couple of very small areas that are
brown. He has only been here a few days but he is a friendly and loving
guy who loves people. He has been with children as young as 5 years old
in his previous home and has been great with all the kids he has met.

Doc loves to be outside and a fenced in yard would be perfect for this guy
as he loves to run and romp in the snow.  Doc has no problem with stairs,
doesn't counter surf and has no need to be crated.  He sleeps all night and
his favorite place to sleep is cuddled up next to someone.  Doc is house
trained, eats well, has no food issues, and is not the least bit aggressive.

So if you need a doctor at your house that is handsome and has a great
bedside manor this "Doc" is ready to make a house call.

Franklin
Hello - Franklin Basset here! I’m a young man of six and I love to cuddle.
When I came to the rescue, I was very sick. I had a bump on my head and a
nasty infection. The nice doctor removed a cyst and gave me medicine – I’m
feeling better now!

I am just getting settled into my new foster home and things are going well. I
really like to play with my foster basset brothers. I am house trained, have
great manners and I’m very gentle when taking treats and toys.

I’m looking for a forever home with lots of love because I really like to cuddle
on your lap or lay at your feet. Do you have room on the couch for me?
Dallas & Henry
Dallas
Henry
Special Note:  Henry and Dallas are a bonded pair.  Without each other,
they would not make a good transition.  They do everything together and it
would not be advantageous to split them now.  Their foster mom says
these two have been easier to care for than some singles she's fostered!

This is Dallas.  What a wonderful 6 yr old full of love and fun.  Dallas gets
along well with other dogs.  Like Henry, Dallas has only known one home.
He is housebroken, very talkative so apartment dwelling would not be a
good idea.  He is very loving, and does not countersurf.  Dallas is crate
trained, but does not like being left alone for a great length of time.  He has
very good manners and listens very well to commands.  More info to follow.

Here is Henry.  He is a very active 9 yr old with impeccable manners.  He
listens and responds well.  He does like talking a lot so an apartment would
not be appropriate.  He gets along very well with other dogs, big or small.
He is somewhat needy as he has been taken out of the only home he's
ever known.  Henry will lay by you and asked to be petted and loved on as
long as you will do it.  Henry is crate trained, housebroken, and does not
countersurf.  He loves sleeping on the couch or chair.  More info to follow.
