Charli

Adoption date: 8-07
Adopted by: Kathleen Guidi
Comments: ”Charli came into our lives two months ago and I cannot imagine life without her now. She asks for so little but
gives us so much in return for a belly rub, an ear scratch, or a chewie.

Charli has made herself very comfortable, as you can see. Everyday is a new adventure as we become even more attached to
her. I cannot even imagine why Charli was surrendered. She loves car rides, her “doggie neighbors” and making sure the yard
is rabbit free! Charli is truly entertaining and makes us laugh every day.

I cannot thank the members of GABR enough for all of your hard work and dedication. Thanks also to Kay & Marshall, Charli’s
foster parents, for everything they did for her while in their care. Thanks to all of you for bringing this long-eared bundle of joy
into our lives. Sometimes when Charli is sleeping in bed next to me, I can’t help but just stare at her and feel so blessed to be
owned by her!

We couldn’t make it to the Waddle this year, but will be there next September for sure! Maybe even with two bassets!!”

Adoption date: 7-07
Adopted by: Diane & Dave Williams
Comments: "Ralph is doing very well. He's become a fixture in our neighborhood. He's really popular with the pre-school set.
Our toddler neighbor, Sophia, can now say "Ralph" but not "Mom" or "Dad". The kids all want to know what he's up to and where
he is. Ralph usually meets one or more members of his young public on our daily walks around the neighborhood.

Ralph loves snoozing on the deck. Since I work from home sometimes, he will spend an entire afternoon snoozing out there in
good weather. After Ralph was with us for about a month, we started taking him to dog day care every Wednesday. He just loves
it, and apparently, he will now chase and retrieve balls. Dave learned this last week when he picked him up. It must be playing
with the many labs and retrievers at day care! I can tell you none of our previous bassets ever did that! After all day Wednesday,
there, he puts in serious couch time on Thursay. Most Thursday evenings, Dave or I have to wake him up when we get home
from work.

Ralph has also been on a couple of road trips with us to visit friends and family in Bloomington, IN and Dayton, OH, respectively.
When we brought him to visit Dave's dad in OH, Dave's dad was definitely more interested in meeting Ralph than in seeing us.
They bonded right away. Ralph was a bit nervous on both trips, but one of us was always around, making him feel more secure.
He's been a huge hit with my family but doesn't have to travel quite so far for those visits.

Ralph is still easily startled but seems to be getting better with that issue over time. Outside of an ear infection (being treated),
he's doing very well health-wise. Ralph remains incredibly sweet and is great company. We're just so glad to have him. He's
been great to us and for us. The decision to adopt an adult dog was definitely right for us."

Comments: "Hi from Yoshie.

I first want to thank Marlene & Gerald for the great foster care and thank Emmy and GABR for bringing me to my forever home and
family in Illinois. I now reside with my step mom and dad Cookie & Jake. They are teaching me all of the ropes in my new home,
showing me my big yard, and introducing me to all of the squirrels that live here. Cookie & Jake told me that they also were
rescues from GABR 8 years ago. I sleep with my new friends and have lots of toys to play with. Cookie & Jake have to calm me
down every now and then. I could not have asked for a better forever home. Life is great."

Comments: "Hello GABR. I wanted to write and let you all know how I'm doing. I've been here 2 months and it's GREAT! I want to say
"thank you" to my foster mom, Joyce. Also Karen and everyone who got me to my new family. I have 2 human boys to play with. I
sleep with the older one, but go to mommy when I need to go outside. I have two cats to chase: the fat one - I roll him over and lay my
head on his belly. Oh, I can't forget my big sis, her name is Madison. She's a Black lab mix. She has these long legs. I like to nibble
on them when we wrestle.

Mommy is so proud I'm potty trained! I play fetch, and run thru the sprinkler. I'm trying this leash thing. There for awhile, I thought my
name was Beauno (Beau NO). There is this thing called a garden hose, I LOVE to chew on it.

I have to go Madison wants to play.

Thank you, Bocephus

Comments: ”We are so grateful for all of the work that GABR has done over the years to protect and rescue so many beautiful bassets.
We learned of your organization several years ago from a mutual basset lover in Indy. We knew that someday when our two bassets
departed this earth that our next one would be a rescue from GABR. So, in late August it was time to begin the process. Working with
coordinator Karen to identify the right girl for our needs, she put us in contact with fabulous foster mom, Kim, who prepared us for the
wonders of little Hydi.

Hydi is 2 ½ years old and was given up for adoption, along with her brother Jeckyl, because of a family transfer. She was officially
adopted by us on September 2nd. Hydi has come into our hearts in a big way. She has adjusted to Hoosier life and working parents
like a charm. She still loves her belly rubs, Kim, and has a passion for walks with her new Dad. On Sunday, she watched the first half of
the Colts game, a true sign of a champion! So, thanks to everyone for bringing our household back to life with precious Hydi Gleason
Senior.”
                                                                  Joey
Adoption date: 6-07
Adopted by: Karrie
Comments: "I just thought that I'd drop you both a line about Joey. He's doing pretty well, and can be quite the character! Everyone
absolutely loves him - he's become a part of our family! It was a bit of a rocky transition for a few weeks, as the family Sussex Spaniel
and he were being introduced, but now they're best friends! (Well, at least until one of them steals the other ones chew bone; then they
bark and chase one another around the house... just like 3 year old boys!)

critters that wonder into the yard. (He can't catch them, 'cause they know how far his tie out goes, but he still chases towards them, none
the less. He can run pretty fast new tie outs, so he and his brother, Crispin, can be in whatever part of the yard we are.

It looks like Joey's favorite activity is sleeping; in fact, he's decided that he needs to commandeer my futon, and he flops right down in the
middle of it every night and snores. Also, Joey has perfected sitting on a chair! We had to give him his own yard chair, so he can climb up
and sit on it. He's so big, it's amazing he fits, but he seems to love it! Every time he's out in the yard, when he's done running around and
wants a rest, he just hops right on up in it and takes a nap. Joey also is starting to play with toys; he doesn't seem to be too into tennis
balls, but loves chew bones and "weenie dog", a Ty Beanie Baby he found. He carries it around, uses it as a pillow, and chews/sucks on
it, we think it's his "security blanket".

Joey sends his regards to his foster family and basset siblings, and also to the wonderful folks at GABR!"

picked me up from my foster parent in Chicago. I was so excited to be in the car with the wind blowing my ears almost all the way to
the back bumper...it was so cool! I quickly felt at home with my human family and my two new feline siblings, Raven-Ursula &
Hamish-Ariel. I was almost skin and bones when I first moved into my Comments: "A few days before Christmas last year (2007), I
met my new family. They new home, but I have enjoyed regular meals, lots of tummy rubs and walks through the woods surrounding
our home; now, my coat is shiny and healthy and my ribs don't stick out any more. My mommy took some pictures of me, see how
good I look and how happy I am?
