Bassets in their "forever" homes!
                                Sammie

Adoption date: 11-03-2007
Adopted by: Cathy Krawczynski-Gillis
Comments: "My name is Sammie; I was adopted on November 3, 2007 when I was eight months old. Just would like to say “Thank
you!!” to my foster family for taking good care of me while I was waiting for my Forever Home. I miss playing with my foster brothers
and sister.

Well, I love it here in my new home!! My mommy (Cathy) loves me a lot and she takes really good care of me. I bring such joy and
laughter into our home. I’m going to obedience school and I’m doing pretty well (for a basset). The best part of school is after class,
that’s when I can play with my other doggy friends.

I just celebrated my 1st birthday (2/7/08). My mommy had a Birthday Party for me. WOW!! I received so many toys and had so much fun
unwrapping my gifts. Now, I have more toys to play with (or shall I say destroy?).

Here’s my picture – please don’t laugh!! I hate wearing this sweater that my mommy puts on me; I feel so silly. Hopefully, it will be
warm soon so, I can stop wearing this thing.

Thank you, to GABR for doing such wonderful work in helping these sweet and lovable Bassets!!"
                  Lucy

Adoption date: July 2006
Adopted by: Dennis Cleveland
Comments: "We just received the "Happy Gotcha Day" card. Lucy has adjusted very well to her new home and Dr. Hofer of the
Dundee Animal Hospital pronounced her in excellent health when she had her annual checkup last week. Lucy celebrated her
seventh birthday (and saw her shadow) on Ground Hog Day.

She gets along fine with our other Basset, Gracie, as well as all members of the family three of them in her mouth. Her favorite is a
squeaky canvas frog. Walks, car rides, chasing squirrels, belly rubs, ear scratches, and lap time are the typical Basset activities
that she enjoys.

Being taller and more slender than the average Basset, Lucy is a very fast runner and has exceptional leaping ability. She has
absolutely no trouble leaping into our Jeep and seems to have more energy than our three year old hound, Gracie
Ernie & Maggie

Adoption date: September 2007
Adopted by: Kathy, Steve, Tanner & Ethan Harding (Ernie)
Mike & Linda Vorick (Maggie)
Comments: "I am writing on behalf of my family and my parents. My husband, along with our two young sons, adopted
Ernie at the Waddle (pre-arranged) and my parents along for the ride and also to pick up their adopted Dalmatian,
decided to adopt Maggie.

Both dogs are doing very well. Ernie just turned 1 and has fit in with our other three mixed breed dogs, all girls. He is
He also loves our boys and they love him. Ernie came into our life after we lost our 11 year old Basset, suddenly, to a
fast-growing cancer. We can not thank GABR enough for allowing us to adopt Ernie and give him a home that he will
be well taken care of in and loved beyond his wildest dreams!

Maggie is doing just as well. She is the most loving dog and lets you know when you have stopped petting her. When I
go down the street to visit her, we have a little communication between ourselves as I rub her ears. I've never heard
sounds quite like hers before but they are music to my ears. She gets along well with the Dalmatian (he's deaf) and my
parent's two cats. My parents are providing Maggie a very loving home and are thrilled with her. She wasn't a planned
adoption as Ernie was, but once my parents met her, they fell in love with her immediately. They had several Bassets
in the past and love the breed and are happy to have another Basset in their home. She, too, will get all the love in the
world.

I am supporting GABR as much as I can through Igive.com and also putting the word out to family and friends. Thanks
to people like you and the others that are a part of the rescue, either behind the scenes or foster homes, these dogs
get a second chance for a good home. My family truly admires your work. We plan on attending next year's Waddle."
The Pierce Puppies
Adoption date: 4/99; 7/07; 9/07
Adopted by: The Pierce Family
Comments: "Hi, we are the Pierce Puppies. We have all been adopted through GABR. GABR is a wonderful place who held
us in foster care until our Mom & Dad decided to give us a forever home. Jake and Cookie (the ones on the left) were
adopted in 1999. Mom & Dad figured Jake & Cookie needed some excitement in their life so they adopted me (reclining
center) on July 4th. I am a handful but really perked up the family. They decided they wanted one more youngster to keep me
in line, but they fell in love with Sweetie & Sebastian (on the right) on Labor Day weekend. So, we ended up as a crew of 5.

We have a blast in this winter stuff and really get along, most of the time. Mom says I am a little mischievous but have really
learned how to behave. For those of you who think our adoptive parents are crazy, let me tell you they are not. It is true - the
more the merrier. So, everyone should consider adding to their family.

Thank you GABR for taking care of us and finding us a loving home.
Jake, Cookie, Sebastian, and Sweetie and of course me, Yoshie"

      Grace
I am Grace just look at how healthy I am now.

I came into GABR a very sick puppy; I only had a 10% chance of survival. But with the generous people of GABR and
my Foster moms Jean and Elise just look at me now.

I belong to the Pierce pups; if you will look down a few pictures you will see 5 of them on the sofa. Unfortunately I
don’t know the big guy Jake on the left as he has gone over the rainbow.

We all have survived because of GABR and the wonderful people who care about us bassets.

Thank you everyone.
