Elmer
I'm Elmer's foster mom and I'm here to tell you more about Elmer.  Elmer has now been here in our home for two months. We at
GABR are only part of the rescue success story.  You, the adopter, the person who makes sure our rescue dogs continue to thrive
and become man's best friend, are needed to make story complete.  Will you be the final puzzle piece to Elmer's rescue success
story?

He's come a long way in that very short time!   He's roughly two years old and was found in December as a stray.  GABR took him in
from a very overcrowded shelter in Indiana.  He was dirty and had fleas and reminds me a lot of "Tramp" from Lady and the Tramp!  I
think he was used to living on his own because of his trust issues.  Thank goodness he's treat motivated because with a little
practice, he will take treats nicely and won't run and hide when meeting new people.  Just like a puppy, he likes to "mouth" - except
Elmer's full grown!  At first he was doing this during play and any time he wanted your attention.  With continued training, this habit
will go away completely.  Now that we understand him and have him acclimated to family life, he's ready for adoption!  Here are the
details on Elmer:
E - Especially good at house training.  Let him outside (on lead) and he does his business and comes right back to the house.
L - Loves human attention.  He prefers to be with you at all times and is a cuddler.
M - Massive "Arrooo".  This guy can howl and bay with the best of the them.  Although he's not a constant barker, if something gets
him going, it does take a while to stop!  We love his howl!
E - Ever so good with adults but we don't recommend he live with children unless they are teen-aged or older.
R - Requires continued obedience training - treat this sweet little guy like a puppy but without the need to house train!

Elmer lives with three other dogs and a teenager in addition to his foster mom and dad.  Elmer has done well in an active home and
does equally well with the quiet nights on the couch with his humans.  My point is, he's adaptable!  What he needs from you is
stability, patience and guidance.  Elmer knows the rules here and the rules don't waiver.  That consistency is vital over time so he
matures into the perfect house dog.   He has a lot of positive attributes like his laid back, lovey and LOYAL personality.

Finally, Elmer was used in the filming for a story on GABR.  A small piece to that film is now ready for viewing.  You'll see Elmer in the
video link here and in the final video due out in late 2012.    ENJOY this sweet boy!
